Competition Information & Policies for 2027
Dear Parents,
This is your official competition letter and schedule for the 2027 dance season. The competitions we will be attending are listed on the schedule below. We have narrowed down our selections and chosen dates that work best for our studio this year.
Solo & Duet Entry Requirements
As in previous years, parents must come into the office and complete an entry form for each solo or duet entry.
Please be prepared to provide:
Teacher's name
Song title
Style/category of the routine
Competition being attended
Tuition Requirement
Students must be current on tuition payments in order to compete in any group, solo, or duet performance.
If you come in to pay for a dance competition and your tuition account is not current, any payment received will automatically be applied to your tuition balance.
Competition Attendance Expectations
For solos and duets, participation is your choice. While we encourage dancers to attend as many competitions as possible, attendance for individual entries is optional. However, if a dancer is assigned to a group routine that is scheduled to compete, attendance is mandatory. Please reserve all competition dates on your calendar for your dancer and family.
Group Competition Note: Groups will attend one competition this year, and we have selected Encore as the group competition event.
Music & Check-In Procedures
Our staff will:
Turn in all music submissions
Pick up score sheets
Carry backup music for all group routines
Solo and duet participants will receive their music from their solo instructor and should save a backup copy on their phone.
If technical issues occur, dancers must have access to their own backup music.
To avoid missed performances, a studio instructor will check dancers in backstage. Please allow our staff to handle the check-in process.
Competition Fee Policies
Payment Requirements
Competition fees must be paid in the office by the specified deadlines.
When making payments, please indicate:
Which competition you are paying for
Which routine(s) the payment applies to
If a solo or duet fee is not paid by the deadline, the studio will assume the dancer is not attending that competition.
Late Fee Policy
A $25.00 late fee will be charged to any group member who misses a payment deadline and must be reminded.
Please submit payments promptly, as competition entry forms require significant preparation and processing time.
Costume & Appearance Reminder
For all group performances:
False eyelashes are required.
Blush is required.
Earth-tone eye shadow is recommended.
Eyeliner should be applied along the lower lash line.
Red lipstick is required.
Dancers should carry an extra pair of tights in their dance bag.
We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to a successful 2027 competition season!
Competition FAQ’s
-
Competition fees are set by each event organization and cover entry, scheduling, and adjudication. These fees must be paid in advance to secure your dancer’s spot in their routines.

Fees are due before the event’s published deadline. Spots cannot be held without payment, so early submission is strongly encouraged.
-
Essentials include costumes, tights, shoes, makeup, hair supplies, water, snacks, and a cover‑up. A full checklist can be provided.
-
Each competition uses its own scoring system, typically involving technique, performance, choreography, and overall impression. Awards may include adjudications, placements, and special judges’ awards.
-
Many competitions prohibit photography and videography during performances for safety and copyright reasons. Families should follow posted rules. If audience members are caught taking photos or videos during a performance, points can be deducted from the dancer’s overall score.

All competition classes and all solos, duets, and trios will have the opportunity to participate in competitions.
